Wow. This place truly was so so wonderful. I was visiting from out of the country and was unsure what to order. The owner was so helpful and kind. Truly a wonderful experience. In addition, the food was delicious!!! While in new Zealand I visited Auckland, Christchurch, Rotorua, Wellington, and Dunedin, and this was one of my favorite places I stoped to eat. Wonderful family owned restaurant. Definitely try the donburi.

Delicious takeaway shop for fried chicken! Tastes good but doesn’t make you feel sick like some fried chicken. Enjoyed takeaway to nice Te Atatu peninsula view for dinner.

The chicken is really nice! Must try the butter honey one! So tasty! Would definitely go back again! For the price is so worthy. I can even finish the whole one.

Chunky Chook makes some of the best crunchy fried chicken in the West! Reminds me of other chicken places in town, but closer to home (and just as good, if not better!).
Their chicken is really juicy and tender, with a really crisp battered crust. I do enjoy the flavours they bring to both the chicken patties (especially their spicy chicken burger) and the chips. Subtle but noticeable.
Always a great choice for lunch or dinner, and the amazing team there make it worthwhile.

Moved to the peninsula not long ago. GF told me she was keen on burguers so I walked in this place not knowing what to find.
I was very well welcomed by the guy at the counter who explained me things, asked and gave suggestions. Got a special with chicken and fries, karage and a cheese burguer.
Short after I ordered, people were queuing to order which seems have a decent amount of customers (made me think food was good).
Opened up at home and burguers were so tasty. Fries and chicken on spot. It was delicious. I will def come back. 100% recommended.
