Malabar Magic

Authentic South Indian food especially Kerala traditional dishes. They have buffet too on some days. I have had south Indian food in Auckland and Christchurch as well but Malabar Magic, Dunedin is by far the best. Reasonable rates. Super tasty. Excellent value for money. Must visit.

I had the Kappa (Tapioca) with Toddy style fish Curry and Kanthari Prawns, and they were absolutely delicious! The flavours were bold, authentic, and perfectly spiced, making it a treat for any spice lover. The staff were friendly and attentive, consistently checking in for feedback. If you’re looking to enjoy some excellent South or North Indian food, this is a must-try spot.

We had the pleasure of dining last Sunday, and it proved to be a delightful experience. We choose mutton biriyani and the unlimited Kerala meals. The meal was so tasty with verity of dishes. The restaurant's ambiance was impeccable, creating a pleasant atmosphere for our meal. We also had Kizhi Porotta that was incredible taste. The food itself was not only delicious but also prepared with great care. The cleanliness of the establishment was commendable, and the service provided was of high quality. Undoubtedly, this restaurant stands among the finest Dunedin. For those seeking a culinary adventure, they offer both kerala style and north Indian cuisine.

New dishes (to Dunedin) to try that aren't offered elsewhere and lots of variety. Great to have goat and lots of fish options in particular. The service was very good with nice extra touches like pre-warmed plates, and being served chilled water immediately when being seated. Great dishes with chunky and complex sauces.
